MoBots: exciting

I don't say this often, believe me. I'm excited about MoBots. It won't 'revolutionize' or be 'leading' anything (I really do hate PR speak, you got it!), but it looks like a very nifty, useful, and most of all, easy to use little tool. Let's call it a utility. One that every phone should have on it.

So what is it? Well, it's a bit difficult to describe in writing. Best effort goes something like this:

The MoBots app is designed so that anyone – even non-programmers – can develop practical applications for use on their mobile phone with only a few simple steps. Individuals can set-up new, customized MoBots using the application’s appealing, on-screen visual interface; and the results can be shared in the mobots.org community so that more people can take advantage of the creativity that MoBots support.

It won Forum Nokia's Special Recognition Award for Innovation in the Calling all Innovators competition. And if you ask me, it deserved it.

I'm sure that even at this point you've got next to no clue as to what this is all about, so please enjoy a Flash demo and a demo video below. Those should really make you go "wow, that looks really useful!". I know I thought exactly that when I saw them.

And the best news? Beta versions are available for download for Symbian S60 3rd Edition devices. So grab yours and play!
